About Me

Phew! Here we go... trying to put down the right words to avoid scaring people off! Firstly, I lowered my age for the search process to widen the net for those who may yet be interested. I am actually ten years older, sorry. All photos of me here are very current. I am a little daunted searching for 'the one' … particularly online. I suspect most of us on this site feel this way. I look deeply into that wishing well of hope again to see that there is love enough down there to offer another soul… and it seems there always is. Learning to trust again… ah... to believe in someone so truly that you never need to have your guard or radar up… what a goal, and what an achievement once you have it! To be in one relationship for all time – where both work towards its success… Where empathy and understanding are part of that love… where partners do not seek to impart their values and beliefs on the other, but accept each other as they are, inclusive of foibles and, perhaps, reasonable baggage. I accept people as I find them. I see many say: "no baggage please".. However, I suspect that most of us do have some baggage after years of living, working, loving. About me: Well, I've been in media/communications/publishing for over 25 years, but have done many other things as well, including human resources, sales consultancy, and even teaching English in a local Chinese academy. I worked in government for over 25 years. I am polite, respectful and very family-oriented. A few years ago, I took a career break to be a househusband (after my son was born) as well as carer for my elderly mum, who came to live with us but has since passed away. I live on my own mostly now, except the 3 days a fortnight my precious and charming 4yo lives with me (including every 2nd weekend). All photos here (except the suit and and the blue/white striped polo) were taken by him in recent months… the striped polo pic was taken September 2015. I am very fit and healthy, with no medical issues. I've been a health-conscious gym goer for almost 20 years. I'm a reasonable cook having prepared meals for half my life. I do well with standard Australian/European fare, and also with more complex and spicey asian cuisines. I'm houseproud and know how to be tidy (except - like anyone - when a 4yo is running around making his mess!!) I enjoy films, popular culture, books, and music... music has been a big part of my life since childhood. I'm into most kinds of music - literally. Although I tend to listen more to what I listened to in my teenage years these days – otherwise jazz, soul, country, classical. I also play guitar (as an amateur though) and write and sing 'little' songs for myself and friends. I also have a Maton electric guitar and a 100w amplifier - which to the happiness of all, rarely gets used! I always one book at least on the go. I like histories, bios, classic literature/novels. I watch SBS, and ABC mainly - documentaries, histories, movies etc. The odd movie or TV show (variety/interview) on the commercial channels. Although I live in an area where it's almost mandatory, I'm not a car-loving, sports-mad, AFL devotee etc, with nothing else to talk about. I'm more the inner-suburban type you might see sipping coffee in Fitzroy, where I once used to hang out… I just happen to reside in a more rural setting these days. I'm quite a simple, honest and easy-going fellow really and hope to find the same – I'm a romantic who is incomplete without that 'other half'. I'm not sending out, nor receiving many messages here – just waiting for that magical person to appear! And reasonable distance doesn't trouble me. If I possibly sound stuffy, I'm not. I can be very cheeky and know how to laugh. And don't worry, I'm a bit shy about making contact as well. Cheers.
